Diesel
Three Way Catalyst (DTWC) works in
a similar way like autocatalyst. However,
because generator-drive diesel engines
emit more nitrogen oxides and particulate
matters than petrol cars normally
do DTWCs must have higher performance
standard to achieve diesel engine
emission purification. Trunett
C2 series DTWCs reduce nitrogen oxides
to nitrogen and oxygen and simultaneously
oxidize carbon monoxide, gaseous and
liquid hydrocarbons, including those
adsorbed on the carbon particles,
to carbon dioxide and water. The liquid
hydrocarbons are known as the soluble
organic fraction (SOF) and make up
part of the total particulate matter.
In comparison to Diesel Particulate
Filter the carbon fraction of the
particulate matter remains mostly
unaffected in this process due to
insufficient reaction time.
